Data have become a new commodity, a source of economic and social value. Raw data is the new gold lode that businesses and government crave to exploit with the intent to identify hidden correlations and hints.

On the other hand the increasing number of people using internet and mobile phones, new electronic devices and sensors applied to humans, animal and objects generate a huge amount of data that is driving the economic and generating a creativity revolution in almost any aspects of our life. The Internet of Things (IoF) is giving way to the Internet of Everything (IoE).

About CEMSE

The Computer, Electrical and Mathematical Sciences and Engineering (CEMSE) Division plays a central role in the research, teaching, and outreach of KAUST. The three Programs of the Division - Applied Mathematics and Computational Sciences; Computer Science; Electrical Engineering - are evolving rapidly and powerfully at the frontiers of technology leveraging on cutting-edge laboratory facilities and on an inspirational approach to science.

CEMSE research is driven by the global challenges of our time, Big Data being one of them. CEMSE employs computer science, electrical engineering and mathematics to make the Big Data future closer, today.
